Critic is often a term overused in art.
Despite hating critics myself, hence the fact of being an artist and constantly being exposed to the others eye and mind, still... I do consider that any feedback, opinion or writing (that assumes the form and shape of a critic) is the correct way to add value to the art work and the rightful thing to do that can enhance or convey dignity most and for all to the viewer or public.
Critic exists to add value, to serve knowledge. Not ignorance.
While inter-textualizing, the artwork above...
A mistake is not a new creation, but rather a miss intention. Yet the creative process requires courage as mistakes do happen on the way, I can only invite to consider great master's legacy such as Van Gogh (who used to repaint backgrounds - start over again if not), or further down the line of art history, I look at the moral of Michelangelo's with regards to his late work.
As for such a statement:
“Art cannot be criticized because every mistake is a new creation”
is rather brainwashing and a common cliche, yet someone may accept it without questioning such a repetition. Pop Society lacks so much courage to live that it is understandable to see such works being digested seamlessly within the shallow mainstream of the contemporary art community.
Works based on the certainty and constructive reality of the known pop are as deep as they can be; Precisely as deep as the thin layer of air.
What is there to critic, then?
I critic society. Cliches. The known thin layer of air. The lack of self consciousness.
As to Mr. Brainwash work, I don’t see mistakes, his media-tic way of proposing himself is thoughtful; Is rather calculative and well accepted in our society to agree to such construed and shallow statements, there is no drama in it, no position to take but only to digest the lie.
There for I don’t see in this any point or any story where a personal drama is in play.
Coming to the end I wonder what value could I possibly add?
I will leave you with a quote a guest wrote, not a while back ago in a Gallery when I challenged him to write on a white canvas that I intentionally left blank.
” I wanted to write something profound.
But I am so shallow ”
